Ron was slouched in his mission gear on her right, his angelically blonde hair glinting in the fluorescent lighting, on his face a trusting carefree grin. Salmon-pink Rufus was perched on his left shoulder with the doomsday device remote clutched firmly in his soft paws. They were waiting for her.
Her choice should be easy. Pick him and your life will be perfect. Pick him and your life will be easy. Kim took a tentative step towards the pair.
Sudden movement to the left of her vision, a flash of lime green. Kim's eyes flicked to the disturbance, to the sallow-skinned woman who had jerked involuntarily in horror. The smirk on Shego's face had slipped off like an egg off the wall of a house on Halloween, exposing her anguish and resignation, her general feeling of betrayal. She looked like she was going to be sick.
Kim froze in her tracks. Her choice should be easy. The boy of her dreams, her opposite in demeanour, the one who grounded her personality while allowing her to soar, versus a grumpy, smart mouthed villain. Versus an inflexible, perpetually angry, snide, witty, intelligent, curvaceous, beautiful…
No, her choice was easy. There was no conflict. Kim broke into a grin.
That night, one sidekick lay sprawled along a bar, numerous empty shot glasses littering the floor around him, while the other spooned Kim in blissful slumber.
