"Whatcha got there, Dean?"
His brother started, looked guilty as hell as he hurriedly thrust the mystery object back into his duffel. Sam grinned, made a grab for the bag, wrested it from Dean's grasp and pulled the object out of the bag.
He frowned in puzzlement. Held up the unassuming square of woollen cloth in silent query.
Dean blushed, snatched it back.
"It's just a piece of the blanket you were wrapped in when I carried you out of the fire, Sammy…"
Sam, for once lost for words, watched Dean fold the poignant memento of their shared past away.
