Just a little one-shot for Luna!

It was when the students came out of the Great Hall that they spotted the posters. There were a few nudges at first, a few stares and giggles. A few whispers.

Someone with long blonde hair and permanently dreamy looking eyes was neither whispering nor giggling. Instead, she was standing, quiet against the corridor wall, radish earrings dangling from her ears. And she was smiling.

Gaggles of students pushed at each other, and snorted with laughter. A few smiled sympathetically, but most simply dissolved into helpless guffaws upon the sight of the parchment.

But all of them read the posters.

To Hogwarts Staff and Students

As you all know, it is the last night of term and while I am very much looking forward to my holidays, particularly my trip with my father-hunting Crumple-Horned Snorcacks-it would be far more enjoyable if I had some of my possessions returned. I find it perfectly understandable that some of them have gone missing throughout the term-I suspect the Nargles have simply run awry again. However, if any of you would like to offer any help in returning them, I would be very appreciative. The items I am still currently missing are:

1.) Two pairs of shoes (necessary for nighttime sleepwalking)

2.) Several socks-Lodopaths love to hide in socks, so be warned should you come across them..

3) Several necklaces, all Butterbeer corks.

And

4). Five copies of this year's Quibbler.

If, by any chance, someone should find these things lurking in their own dormitory, you may return them to me, and I will put it down to Wrackspurts. There has been an excess of them, this year. I am sure with the help of the Retrievopaths, the search may be successful.

Thank you, and wishing you a happy holiday-Luna Lovegood, Ravenclaw.

Many people broke into outright laughter upon seeing the posters. Many others began flapping the air with their hands, as they pretended to search for Wrackspurts. And the name "Loony Lovegood" was bantered through the air far more frequently that evening.

Luna Lovegood smiled and waited and watched.

People kept laughing. People always laughed. And people shouted things after her too, as she drifted off down the corridor, the same way they always did. It was almost nice, to keep with tradition.

Still, she may have hoped for better.

But the evening the posters went up, when she retired to her dormitory, she found all of her missing items returned. Piled on her bed, with no note, but in perfect condition. Some even seemed to have improved since she had last seen them.

Luna supposed that she'd got what she wanted. And people would forget the laughter soon enough, as they did every year. She didn't mind too much.

She just sometimes wished it didn't happen every term, that was all.

She touched the Quibbler magazine on top with a small smile. It was rare she got everything back. Then again, Retrievopaths were particularly common this time of year.
