Hugs, love and pie
AN: I just got Chrom and Sumia married in my new game (again) and I couldn't resist the plot bunnies who attacked me with fluffy thoughts! So here this is! Also, I'm not just pairing them because of the opening scene or because of the cute scene where she says '...hang on tight, Captain', though those are good reasons. I really love this pairing for several reasons, so don't hate on me for it. Enjoy! :)
Chrom blinked a few times and turned his head away from the window in the room, where the sun was coming through and lighting up the room.
He smiled as he saw that Sumia was still asleep, and turned over to his side completely to wrap his arms around her.
We've been married five years, he thought as his smile grew bigger and brighter.
Sumia brought her arms up around his neck and cuddled closer to him, "Hey," she muttered sleepily.
He smirked at her, "You plan on getting up any time soon?"
Sumia shook her head a bit, "Five more...minutes..." she said between a yarn.
Chrom sat up and laughed as she tried to pull him back down, "Sumia, we can't lay about all day. You know this."
She smiled as she leaned against his shoulder, "Don't tell me you're looking forward to the anniversary party," she stopped to look at him, but he turned his head as his face turned red, "You are!"
He laughed quietly as he turned back to her, "Aren't you?"
She smiled up at him, her eyes shining just as his shined, not with tears, but with pure joy and happiness. She couldn't keep her smile off her face if she wanted to, "Of course, but...I don't want to rush any part of today. I want today to be slow and relaxed and...I want to remember every moment of it."
Chrom's smile remained, but he suddenly had a serious look in his eyes to add to the happiness already there, "You're right..."
They sat in silence as they both stared at one another, neither bothering to break the relaxing and happy silence around them. They were content with sitting and staring as time stood still for them.
After a while-how long, they would never know-he finally leaned forward and put a hand to the side of her face before leaning down to kiss her.
She returned the soft kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck again, holding him close to her.
The soft kiss that took up another unknown amount of time only managed to make their happiness grow, making them smile between the soft kisses, making them almost want to laugh at how lucky they were to have each other.
Chrom pulled away and stared back into her eyes for a moment, "I love you."
She smiled one of her brightest smiles-but not her brightest, no, she'd never look as happy as she did at their wedding, and then when Lucina was born-and grabbed his right hand with her right hand, "I love you."
Chrom stood after some time passed, "Come on, my love. You do want some pie for breakfast, don't you?"
Sumia giggled and got up to stand in front of him, "Of course, my love. All the time."
He leaned closer to her to put his muscular arms around her lower back, "All the time?" He asked with a light-hearted, and nearly giddy sounding voice.
She put her arms around his neck once more, "All the time. Morning, noon, and night."
They both laughed softly at the familiar words, then Chrom leaned down to kiss her again, but the kiss was shorter this time, and he pulled away to continue smiling at her, "Hard to believe this is just our fifth anniversary ..."
Sumia smiled back up at him, "They'll be plenty more."
Chrom nodded, staring back at Sumia, "And plenty more pies."
They both laughed and giggled, knowing the day would be slow, indeed, if they wouldn't stop cuddling, kissing, and laughing. It would be a very enjoyable day though. With lots of hugs, love and pie.
