Helllooooooooo wonderful readers! Welcome to "That Awkward Moment When...", a collection of drabbles based on circumstances that Moffat, Davies, and the other writers could've exploited, but ended up not doing so. This story will only be updated as the inspiration comes, though you can feel free to suggest a drabble topic, I would write it, and give you an honorable mention / credit!
Enjoy the first of many chapters, "Subroutine Sigma 9"...
The Doctor stood, stock-still, in the control room, staring at the staircase that Captain Jack Harkness had most recently occupied. His mind was still all in a jumble; he couldn't quite put together how he, Amy, and Rory had met up with the Captain again, or how Jack had talked his way onto the TARDIS without the Doctor's permission. All he knew was that Jack was now on his way to take a shower in one of the many guest quarters the TARDIS had generously supplied, and he was left in the wake of Jack's flirting, both with him and with Amy. Amy had certainly been quite taken with the dashing Captain, a fact that Rory had not been keen on at all…at least, until Jack had started hitting on him, too.
The Doctor shook his head to clear it, trying to think of a good distraction. Then, he (quite cleverly) thought of the perfect distraction for his little entourage. He happily slipped around the console of his TARDIS, his shoes sliding on the glass floor. "Next stop, Karakatun!" he called out joyfully, flipping levers and tapping buttons.
"Kara-what?" Amy quirked an eyebrow at him, and Rory looked similarly confused, though the Doctor would never tell Rory that he always looked confused.
"Karakatun, the planet that conducted the first space exploration in the entire universe!" the Doctor exclaimed enthusiastically, wonder lighting up his face. Rory knuckled his forehead, and Amy rolled her eyes; she had been hoping for a planet with a nice beach and maybe a sun that didn't emit UV rays.
Suddenly, the TARDIS console lit up in a flurry of sparks. "No, No, NO!" the Doctor shouted, sliding around to that part of the console and smacking it with a hammer. The TARDIS only repeated the sparks, her engines groaning, and the Doctor's brow furrowed before his face lit up again.
"Looks like we're going to have to lose a few rooms! Poor girl doesn't have enough juice to get us there, so we'll just delete the excess rooms to give her some welly! I'll have to refuel once we get there!" the Doctor cried out as his hands worked frantically at the levers. The TARDIS gave a tremendous shudder as the rooms were deleted, and finally her engines began to sound less strained.
Suddenly, a figure shimmered into the room, and a stark-naked Captain Jack Harkness stood before them, hair slightly wet from his shower. Amy stared, Rory blushed and turned his head, and the Doctor let out a horrified yell.
"DAMMIT, Jack, I told you to use the guest quarters, not MY rooms!"
