Fin walked through the cemetery holding a dozen red roses. When he got to her grave, he laid the flowers down. He looked down at her grave, and he could feel tears in his eyes. He placed his head in his hands. She didn't deserve this. She was a good person. It was his fault she was dead.
"What is this then Fin? Are we just 'fuck buddies'?" She yelled.
"No Mel, it's not like that." He said trying to calm her down.
"Oh really, then what is it like?"
"I don't know..."
"I don't know! That's the best you can come up with? You know what Fin, I'm through with this! I'm not going to let you treat me like I'm some kind of whore!" She turned around making her way to the door.
He grabbed her wrist. "Let go of me!"
"Melinda, please listen to me."
She took a deep breath, trying to control her anger. "Fine"
"I don't know how I feel about this, but I don't think of you as a whore."
"Is that all? Can you let go of me now?"
He nodded as he released her wrist from his grip. He really didn't want to let her go.
She walked out of the apartment before allowing tears to fall from her eyes. She loved him. Why couldn't he see that? She walked down the street, her vision was blurring slightly. She stood at the cross walk. She saw no cars, so she crossed. When she was halfway across a car turned the corner. She didn't have time to react before the car struck her. The driver and his friends, they were all obviously drunk, quickly fled the scene. A passerby saw what had happened and quickly called 911. An ambulance was rushed to the scene, but it was too late. Melinda Warner was already dead.
Fin wondered if he had told her how he really felt, maybe she wouldn't be dead. He knew how he felt about her that night. He loved her. If he would have said that, maybe she would have stayed with him. She would still be alive and here with him. It was to late for that though. She was dead. She wasn't ever coming back.
A lone tear slid down his cheek. He wiped it away before he looked at her grave once more and walked away.
"I love you Melinda" He whispered to the wind.
