Prequel/Sequel. Up to one's interpretation. Had to get this out of me before the next episode airs and I decide to delete this from my computer.
Disclaimer: Not mine. Or i'll make sure there'll be a happy ending. D:
In a world yet to come.
"You can change your destiny. You can change fate. You just need to make a contract with me and become a Magical Girl. Everything can be changed."
"I want to change this."
And then there was change.
It is Walpurgis Night. The world is coming to an end. There are falling debris, dead bodies and crumbling buildings. Where are the heroes?
The ones who would save the world?
There are none. For everyone is normal.
The sick girl. The poor one. The heartbroken. A girl who blames herself for everything. And one who has long died in a car accident.
Akemi Homura is not a hero. Never. Not in this timeline, or the many others. She never will be. Never. Heroes are created because someone remembers them. Someone who remembers their bravery, their actions, their sacrifices. Someone.
But there is no one.
There are no fairy tales. No heroes. No princesses. No knights in shining armour. There are however, witches, zombies and aliens. There are however, wishes that come true.
In a world where everyone has souls, there is no hope.
I.
A young girl sat on the floor cross-legged listening to her father preach. In his right hand was a black book. But he as he spoke, he didn't seem to refer to it at all. The young girl just assumed her father knew it all by heart.
II.
She was a frequent visitor to the hospital. In the seven years of her short life, she could not remember a time where she did not have to visit the doctor for something. Her eyes, her heart, her body. Each time she went, she feels a sense of loss. Doctors are supposed to cure their paitents. She does not understand why she feels hollow inside.
III.
A little girl joins her family in the car happily. She is excited to be travelling somewhere together with them. It's been a long time since they went out like this. She is young. She is easily satisfied. But she is never too young to die.
Some people died in a car accident. A preacher murdered his whole family. Another girl comitted suicide due to bullying.
And some people continue to go to school as if nothing happened.
Life goes on.
Kaname Madoka walks to school cheerfully with Hitomi and Sayaka. There is no sense of loss. No grief. She is oblivious. She is happy. She is not grateful for anything. She has no need to be.
There is just one week left before the world turns to ash.
The pink hair girl has many worries. Whether she'll get a love letter before she graduates, whether she would do well in the next test.
Because there are no more important things for her to worry about. No seniors, no transfer students, no one who recently visited the town. No friend who is stupidly in love.
In this timeline, everyone dies. Everyone but the pink hair girl who miraculously made her way out of the maze and is currently shielded by a piece of concrete that used to be part of a grave stone. For she is no one.
A white creature stands on the top of a pile of metal, looking down at the ruins. It decides. The alien with a white body decides to interfere with the world. The world cannot end this way. This isn't good. This world would not be able to reach the quota required.
So it swishes its tail and jumps off . The alien looks at the sobbing young girl under the grave. A grave covered in dust. A grave that no one visited. And a name that she would never know in this time. It opens its mouth and made an offer. "You can change your destiny. You can change fate. You just need to make a contract with me and become a Magical Girl. Everything can be changed."
Changed. Not avoided. Kyubey does not lie.
"I want to change this."
And then there was change.
