Oneshot. I'm aware this might be controversial and whatnot. Implied KasumixHayate. Please; Don't flame me.
When he looked at her... he saw everything he was and could not be. They had been just fine before, so what happened?
Hayate stared out the dusky window seperating him from the forest. The sky was dim, and so was his resolve.
Kasumi had always been there. When she was born, he had been ecstatic to be a big brother. When she took her first steps, he was there to guide her and keep her from falling. When she had uttered her first word, nissan, he had been there to hear it and praise her.
They had always been together. He was the wind and she was the mist. The wind showed the mist where to flow, and guided its way. Just like Hayate had always guided Kasumi. They belonged together. They balanced eachother.
Her beautiful auburn hair. Her pure doe eyes. Her flawless skin. Her heart warming smile. Her everything. He loved every part of her. He had always cherished her and loved her as his beloved little sister. And the same love he harbored, it also shined brightly in her eyes as well. It broke his heart whenever she would appear before him, begging him to forgive her, her eyes shattered in sadness.
He was broken. But he had a duty to his clan. To himself.
He could never have imagined her not being by his side before. But now it had come to that.
So many things had transpired since she had become a runaway shinobi. He could no longer look her in the eye without wanting to scream at her. Without wanting to ask why. Without wishing he could somehow change things. If it had been any other way, if he hadn't been the heir to become the Head Shinobi, maybe he could have put aside his loyalty to the clan and go after her, find her, hug her, and never let her go.
'Let's pretend we never met.'
'You broke the code of shinobi, Kasumi'.
'I'm sorry, but you are no longer welcome here.'
Hayates eyes slid shut and he let out a breathless sigh.
Somehow, someway, he would be able to be with his sister again. Even if it was when he was old and approaching his deathbed. The blood that flowed through his veins also flowed through hers. And as long as it did, he would still love her. More than his mother and father. More than Ayane and Ryu. Even more than his clan.
He would find a way.
I was so tearful when I played DOA3 and 4. Kasumis ending in DOA3 tore at my insides and I even threw things at my screen because you can see how much Hayate and Kasumi are hurt and angry, yet they can't do anything about it. It just brings tears to my eyes. Thankfully things seem to be wrapping up nicely in DOA5, but I'm still not fully satisfied with how things ended.
