Robin hates it when she meditates. He knows that she has to do it to control her powers, but when Raven meditates, she is in another world. A world where she is at peace with herself and everything around her. A world that Robin could not even hope to join her in.
Robin hates that Raven barely ever shows emotions. He hates that she thinks emotions are useless. He hates that he could love her so much and she might not even care.
It's okay, though. Robin is used to pretending that everything's fine when he's falling apart.
But Robin isn't used to being in love. He doesn't understand why his heart beats faster when she's near or why when she touches him, however accidentally, he loses all ability to speak- or breathe. He doesn't understand why his face heats up when he sees that parody of a smile on her lips.
They were alone in the Tower for the day. Everyone else had gone to have some fun. Robin was sitting on the couch pretending to watch t.v. when what he's really doing is watching Raven meditate.
He watches her lips move, forming sacred words that hold no meaning to him, because suddenly he's so alone and those lips are his only salvation, his only hope of ever understanding what it is to love, and perhaps even be loved.
He didn't remember moving, but he was suddenly in front of Raven. She didn't notice him, but he knew he could bring her back- back to him. The answer was in those lips.
So he kissed her.
She froze, opening her eyes wide and gasping a little. He took it as an invitation to deepen the kiss. He pulled away when she started to kiss back, waiting for something. What, he wasn't sure, but when she smiled, a real smile, not he horribly mockery of one that she sometimes wore he realized what he had been waiting for was this- her acceptance.
And as he bent down to kiss her again, he thought that perhaps he was wrong. Maybe he could join her in that corner of her mind where she found peace. But until, he supposed it would just have to remain one of his little pet peeves.
AN- This is the first story that I've written out of spite. I kinda like how it turned out. It's also the first het. story I've posted here. I wrote this after reading a review from citrus02honey, who wrote me the stupidest review that I have ever in my life read. But, hey, you gotta commend those who have the guts to actually flame a person and leave themselves logged in. Unlike the anonymous midnight, who isn't even worth my time.
