Sleep wasn't coming to me that night. I had spent hours just rolling around in my bed, but I just could not get comfortable. Then after spending fifteen or so minutes just staring up into the darkness of my room, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. So I crawled out of my bed and crept down the narrow hallway to Axel's room.

Carefully, I opened the door. "Axel?" I whispered, just loud enough for him to hear. "Axel?"

He stirred in his bed. "Roxas?" he grumbled. "It's the middle of the night. What do you want?"

"I-I couldn't sleep," I told him sheepishly.

He let out a soft chuckle. "All right, come here."

I stepped into his room and silently closed the door behind me. Then I quietly made my way over and into his bed. I lay down and made myself comfortable, my back facing Axel.

"Thanks," I said.

"Of course."

"And sorry for waking you."

"It's okay."

"Goodnight Axel."

"Night Roxas."

With that, we both fell silent. But even now, I still didn't feel the least bit tired. But then I felt Axel move and his arm was suddenly draped over my waist. I tensed up a bit at the contact, which he noticed.

"Are you okay?" he checked.

"Y-yeah," I lied.

"All right."

And he left it at that. He didn't remove his arm from around me, though. That's when I sat up.

He propped himself up on one elbow and rubbed his eyes with his free hand. "Roxas, what's wrong?"

"You had your arm around me," I pointed out.

"Does that bother you?"

"Well…I don't know."

"Okay. Whatever." He turned his back to me and lay back down.

I sighed. "Axel." He didn't respond. I sighed again. "I'm sorry, Axel."

He turned to face me. "Just go to sleep."

"Why are you mad at me?"

"I'm not mad."

"I know you better than that."

"Whatever," he repeated. "Can we talk about this later? I'm exhausted."

"No."

Now he sighed and sat up as well. "Fine."

"So…what's wrong?"

"I like to cuddle. Is that a crime?"

I couldn't help but to laugh. "Axel, really, what's wrong?"

And for a long while, we just sat there in silence. Then, out of nowhere, Axel placed a hand on the back of my neck and pulled me towards him and kissed me. Realizing that I had wanted this to happen all along, I kissed him back.

"Well, nothing is wrong anymore," Axel said once we broke apart.

I smiled. "You know, I think I'm tired enough to sleep now."

He smiled back. "Good because I'm still exhausted."

We then lay back down. I had my back to Axel's chest and he draped his arm over my waist again and nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck. And it was like that that we finally fell asleep.
