I Have Nothing

He sat, trembling. He watched the people file into the large room to pay their respects. They didn't even know her. Hadn't.

He hadn't, either.

He was seated in one of the middle rows. He was wearing black, so nothing special seemed to stand out about him. He was one of them - one of the crowd, one of the people who had only known her for her title, her role. The role she played. Every day.

He wanted to stand up and scream out, Can't you see? I'm Mario's brother!

Only then would eyes turn away from his brother. In the front. Looking weak and sobbing into a tissue. She had been his girlfriend. His reason for living.

Then why was Luigi feeling this way?

In the very front of the room, a long black casket encased a beautiful princess. Peach. She was dressed in her favorite dress. Mario's favorite dress. The pink one. She was wearing Mario's ring on her index finger. Around her neck lay the necklace Mario had given her. She was radiant. Yet, she was lifeless.

No tears emerged from Luigi's dry eyes. He just wasn't that type. The type to openly express feeling.

Maybe that was why he had never expressed his true feelings for Peach.
