Rain hit the roof with a soft pitter-patter as Harry stared silently out the window and down at the street below. He watched the water run down the side of the house and form a puddle as it reached the bottom. He longed to be out. Anywhere. He didn't care where. His Uncle Vernon had locked him in his room. Again. He muttered something under his breath that sounded like "Bastard" and then hit the wall with his fist.

Hedwig hooted in agreement and flapped her wings wildly in her cage. Harry walked over to her and placed a hand on her cage. "It's alright, calm down" he said soothingly. "We don't want Uncle Vernon to come in here, now do we?" Hedwig hooted softly at him and settled down, nipping gently at his fingers.

Harry paced back and forth in the small room. He felt trapped. Like a wild animal at the zoo.

Sirius stood across the street and stared up at the window in the huge house. A light glowed dimly from within. He knew that Harry was restless. He growled loudly, deep in his throat. He could kill those muggles for treating his Godson this way. He started toward the house and then thought better of it. He was still in hiding; he couldn't afford to make a mistake. Not now. There was too much at stake. Harry needed him. And more importantly, he needed Harry. He'd only just gotten him back and he wasn't about to lose him. Not again.

Harry stood at the window once more, tracing a pattern in the fog on the glass. Movement caught his eye a moment later and he stared intently into the darkness below him. Sirius. Harry smiled now, for the first time all day. It comforted him to know that he wasn't alone. He placed his palm against the glass.

Sirius grinned, his eyes sparkling and raised his hand into the air. It was almost as if the two of them were touching now. Palm to palm. Heart to heart.
