Steve's Adventures At College

As Steve drove from his house to Michigan, he had done some thinking. He realized

just how much he was going to miss hanging out with Blue, his household appliances, and

Periwinkle, the neighbor's cat that visited him sometimes while singing about the alphabet.

He laughed as he remembered screaming loudly when he realized that the cat could talk, and

cried when he remembered how Periwinkle had made him an apology card with macaroni

and fingerpaint. He regretted the time when he had been too sick to play Blue's Clues and

Blue began to howl despairingly in the backyard, and was suddenly quite angry at her for

getting a pawprint on his polo (Blue had wanted him to buy a new shirt). It was too late to

think about these things now, as Steve had just arrived at college, and Blue and her pals were

hopefully in good hands.

When he got out of his car, Steve was greeted by one of the residential assistants of

his dormitory, Nickleby Hall.

"Hi, I'm Tyler Wall and I'm going to be the RA for your floor."

"RA? I'm not sure if I know what that means."

"It means residential assistant. I'm going to be helping you with issues that you might

have with your roommate, planning dormwide activities with the other RAs and holding

mandatory floor meetings."

"That sounds interesting. Will you be helping me out when my eating utensils start

giving me trouble about cleaning my room?"

"Ha ha," Tyler laughed, "You're so funny! What's your room number?"

"319, but that wasn't really a jo..."

"Great. Your room is on the third floor and, according to this sheet, your roommate is

named Justin Hall. Good luck this semester!"
