Standing Ovation
Jackie awoke to a small hand on her face.
She opened her eyes slowly.
All around her were Nick and the kids (Minus the babies).
"Happy Mother's Day." Nick told her.
"Thank you." Jackie said.
"Happy Mama's Day." The kids said, except Hundley.
"Hundley can you say Happy Mama's Day?" Nick asked the little girl.
Instead of saying it Hundley just grinned widely and then clapped her little hands rapidly together.
Nick laughed.
"Well she didn't say Happy Mother's Day but she did give you a standing ovation." Nick told Jackie.
Jackie smiled.
"Thank you sweetheart." Jackie told the little girl as she gently tousled her hair.
"Here Mama." Sloan said as he handed her a card.
Jasmine, Houston, Johnna, and Karlie handed her one as well.
"Did you guys make me cards?" Jackie asked the kids.
"Yeah." They all replied happily.
"Thank you, I love them." Jackie said as she looked through all the cards.
"Hundy didn't make one, her eat the crayons, dada told her no, no." Karlie informed Jackie.
Jackie looked at Nick and grinned.
Nick smiled and shook his head, confirming Karlie's story.
"Ryan didn't make you one either, him was sleeping, and Boone didn't make one either, him was mad." Karlie added.
"Ryan didn't make me one because he was sleeping and Boone didn't make me one because he was mad?" Jackie asked.
"Yeah." Karlie said.
"Well that's ok." Jackie assured her.
Nick slipped out of the room and then came back in moments later carrying a tray of food.
"You went and got me cinnamon roll pancakes from Bailey's?"(One of Jackie's favorite restaurants.)
"Yep, and a frappe from your favorite coffee shop." He added.
"Thank you Nicky, boy am I spoiled." Jackie said as she looked at Nick and all the kids.
"Alright guys, let's go downstairs and let mommy eat in peace." He told the kids.
"Me want some pancakes." Karlie said.
Nick laughed.
"You're not a mommy." He told her.
"Yeah." Karlie argued.
"Really, you are?" Nick asked her.
"Yeah." Karlie insisted before she left the room.
The little girl came back moments later carrying her baby doll.
"See dada, that's my baby."
"She's got you there Nicky." Jackie told him with a wide smile.
"She does." He agreed.
"Alright, I thought you guys would want some pancakes so I got some for everyone, let's go eat." He told the kids.
The kids happily left the room.
"Thank you for all of this." Jackie told Nick.
"You're welcome." He told her as he leaned down and gave her a kiss.
"And thanks for being understanding about waiting until next weekend to go to dinner and a movie." He said.
"It's no problem." Jackie assured him.
Nick smiled at her.
(Nick had to work that night, and he also had to prepare for a trial he had to present evidence at the following day and so he had to push celebrating Mother's Day until next weekend, he felt bad, but as always, Jackie was understanding.
"I wonder what our grandchild's name is?" Nick asked with a chuckle as he glanced down at the baby doll Karlie had left on the bed.
"I don't know, does that make us bad grandparents?" Jackie asked with a laugh.
"Yes I think it does." Nick said as he also laughed.
"Come on daddy, we want pancakes." Jasmine said impatiently as she came back into the room.
"Alright, I'm coming." He assured her.
"Thanks again for all of this Nicky." Jackie told him.
He gave her one last smile before he followed Jasmine out of the room.
Jackie smiled to herself, what a wonderful start to Mother's Day!
The End!
Sorry this story is a bit late but I hope that all Mother's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!
