Chapter 1

A Clean Slate

Disclaimer: If I owned the Beauty and the Beast, I wouldn't be wasting my time writing this fan fiction, now would I? The awesome sauce story belongs to Disney, and Disney alone...dammit. All I own is this fan fiction and the characters that I choose to add. Don't make me repeat this; because I won't. PLEASE R&R!

Who was I? How did I get there? Why the fuck does rain have to be so damn cold? I don't know how long I wandered in the forest. All I knew was that I was lucky to make in to the tavern. I'd lost all my previous memories. I had no idea who I was, my age, my family if I had one, my childhood, everything. I had no idea where I was, how I got there, and why I was there in the first place. My first memory was walking mindlessly in the heavy, cold rain through the forest. It must have been hours but it felt more like years. By the time I finally started to see houses, all I wanted was a warm, dry bed, and the option of never waking up again. All the houses were dark, so I continued on in the the center of the small town and walked to the first and only light I saw. It was the tavern. It was very loud when I first walked in but the chatter quickly died when I collapsed on the hard wood floor in exhaustion. I remember a lot of movement going on around me as I tried crawled my way to the fire place, the source of all that glorious warmth. Large, warm, dry arms carried me to it. I was so tired that I could barely lift my head to see where those generous arms carried me and stay awake long enough to feel the warmth of the fire lick my frozen skin, the arms gently lay me to rest near the fire, and feel the warm embrace of a large, thick blanket wrap around my frozen being. The last thing I remember feeling before passing out was the gentle embrace of the arms lay me against a large, warm body that rocked me back and forth. My last thought was, "This must be what heaven feels like."
