When I first came into life, I screamed.

I could see everything, even the souls of the sunflowers. I couldn't stop the light coming from the right side of my head, from the socket with my hand, and driving a stone into the hole did nothing. I could only close my eye and whimper, afraid of the light.

Soon I heard footsteps, and the crunch of grass. I could hear breathing, and I could sense a feeling of worry coming from the presence that I felt. My curiosity got the better of my sense, and I opened my eye, and the cursed light from my eye socket brought me more knowledge than I could bear in a stream of consciousness. I fainted, and came to in a dark place, made of stone.

A tall man was standing over me, and I vaguely recollected being carried, and his face seemed very familiar. He handed me a cup, saying, "drink up," and I drank, the red liquid within giving me strength enough to stand. I looked at the man, curious.

He was tall, but I would later grow to match him in height. He had red eyes, and wore a red uniform of a sort, with a red hat on his brown hair. When he smiled at me, I could see that he had fangs.

"I cannot stay," he began, "but I've managed to put a lid on that light of yours. You are going to be strong, sora mai mica, but if you remove that eye patch the light will come out again."
I stared at him, dumbfounded. The mystery of language had been solved for me when I first Saw the history, the identity, the nature of the man before me, my older brother.

For the first time in my life, I spoke. "I still see," I said.

"True," responded my brother, Romania, "you have the Second Sight, but in you it is stronger than in any other. You have much potential, and your nature is akin to mine."

"I don't understand, what is my nature?" Having a nature was something entirely new to me. What was I like?

"You," he responded, "are a vampire, like me." He opened his mouth and pulled back his lips so I could see his fangs clearly. "I found you near this house, and I think you will grow into it, and become strong, as both a country and a vampire. Drink lots of blood daily, and floss properly, and you'll flourish in no time!"

"I... am a vampire?" I could not comprehend his words, clear as they were. I could not be a blood draining creature, could I?

"Yes, you are." He seemed a bit impatient. "Just drink human blood. The blood I gave you just now was from a goat, but I couldn't find any people on short notice. The first few times you feed yourself, it might be a bit messy, but your fangs will come in nicely."

I looked at him blankly, and then wondered why he was keeping his eyes fixed on the thing in the middle of my face. Right, my nose. I looked down at myself, and blushed for the first time. I was just barely covered by a red coat, one belonging to him. When my brother realized what I had noticed, he blushed and left, bringing a simple outfit, mumbling something about having found it in a bedroom, before giving me some privacy.

I dressed, and looked through a glass covered hole in the wall. A window, I told myself. The sun was down, and my brother was walking away, slowly, but then he glanced over his shoulder, and, winking, transformed into a bat and flew away. I turned around, and noticed that on a platform above the ground, a table, there resided a book.

It was titled, "A beginner's Guide to Magic".
