Remus and Sirius stood on the train platform at Hogsmeade waving off the two figures in the back carriage at the scarlet steam train. James and Peter were both going home as their families wanted them there, not that Remus' didn't (because we all know Sirius' didn't) but it was just better being in the shack for the full moon rather than chain up in the basement at home.
Remus and Sirius made their way back to the school once the train was out of sight chatting away as they went.
When they were back in the Gryffindor common room Remus picked up his book and sat down. He had just opened his book when he felt Sirius' arm brush against his head as he leant on the back of the armchair, Remus felt his stomach do a flip, he knew that the feelings he had towards Sirius where equal to those towards James or Peter.
"Moooonyyy" Sirius whined, "We've only just got back and your already replacing me with a book!" Remus sighed and looked up.
"What do you want to do then"
"Let's go for a walk." And with out waiting for a reply Sirius grabbed Remus by the wrist and dragged him back out the common room.
"We should probably get back to the common room, Padfoot." Remus said after their narrow escape from Filch and his nasty cat. "It's getting no late"
"Ok then" They started walking back when they suddenly felt themselves get propelled backwards.
"What the..." Sirius started.
"Oh... Erm i-it's the em m-mistletoe" Remus stuttered whilst pointing up at the door frame. His stomach was doing flips, was he really about to get to kiss Sirius Black! Oh no this could go very wrong.
"Well I guess we'll just have to... You know, unless you want to be stuck here." Sirius said with a shaky laugh.
They slowly drew closer, Remus still internally arguing but the side that want Sirius was winning. Their lips touched and they both felt the spark, immediately leaning in with their eyes closed, all thoughts tossed aside. Remus moaned and Sirius took it as an opportunity to slip his tongue into Remus' mouth. They pressed against each other as the kiss deepened before eventually breaking apart to breath.
"D-do you..?" Remus tried to say, breaking the silence.
"If you were going to ask if I liked you then yes, I have since the start of fourth year in fact. You?" Sirius said with fake confidence, Remus could tell by the look of fear and desperation in his eyes.
"Yes. Since the end of their year." He said the last part sheepishly but Sirius beamed at this.
"S-so... can I hold your hand?" He finished quietly. Remus laughed.
"Yes please" They walked hand in hand back to the common room.
James knew something was up. He had been back for a few days now from the christmas holidays and he could tell something was different between Remus and Sirius. They both seemed a lot happier, not that that was a bad thing of course, James just wanted to know why. What had happened will he was away?
Remus and Sirius disappeared a lot of the time and James wanted to know why.
James recruited Peter and told him that he was suspicious.
"But what are you going to do to find out what it is?"
"Well I can't ask them, they'll just brush it of..."
"You could try though, I mean it couldn't hurt to ask."
"Or I could slip veritaserum into their drinks!" James exclaimed
"No James!" Peter said firmly, "They need to tell you themselves, plus they might kill you afterwards..."
It turned out that James didn't have to have a plan as the next morning he woke up and went to go and roughly wake up Sirius for dropping his tooth brush in the toilet yesterday. James yanked back the curtains in Sirius' bed and was about to jump onto the bed when he realised it was empty and still perfectly made. That's strange.
Jame shade his way over to Remus' bed to see if he knew where Sirius was. He pulled back the curtains and immediately gasped. Apparently Remus did know where Sirius was. He was in his bed. Naked. In fact they were both naked, luckily for James the covers were covering most of the sight but that didn't change the fact that his two best friends had been sleeping together!
Remus groaned and rubbed his eyes. Oh no oh no oh no he's waking up!
"James..? James! Shit shit shit! I'm sorry we were going to tell you we just didn't know how. This was not a good way to find out! Ahhh I'm so sorry. Wait you are okay with this aren't you? The whole gay thing...?" James had been on a shocked silence throughout all of Remus' rant.
Actually it made quite a lot of sense know that he thought about it. He always thought Sirius and Remus had a different bond to the rest of them. It would also explain all the disappearing. Wait a minute, they had the dorm to themselves the whole holiday and he had just found them naked. They hadn't done anything on his bed had they.
"Y-yeah it's die just a bit of a shock that's all. So long as your happy." Remus smiled, feeling relived.
"Yes were are thanks" he's said whilst looking lovingly at Sirius sleeping next to him.
"Just one thing." James continued, "You didn't do anything in my bed did you?" Remus just laughed and told him, in a way that James did it find reassuring, that they hadn't.
