As these words emerged a shiver travelled down both of their spines.
Jack smiled slightly, bitterly to himself. He didn't know whether he would get His Daniel back, ever. That slight hint was enough to keep him going for the time being. He didn't want to say how he'd been waiting outside Daniel's room hoping, dreaming for his return. Those few months of nothing had been almost too much to bear. Now that Daniel was apparently alive, he didn't want to freak him out with sudden overtures of love.
Daniel Jackson, as he had discovered he now was, did not know why on Earth he had said that. Seriously, that was asking for trouble. He didn't know much about this world, but some grunt in the locker room had mentioned the 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy, which he personally thought was ridiculous. When he had recovered no memories but feeling of his previous relationships, he was so scared of the magnitude of his feelings for Sg-1 and his CO that he had suppressed all mention.
'Well' they both thought, 'Time will only tell.'
