She was restless. It was 11 at night, and most of the villains and what remains of the Heroes team were asleep, and she was awake thinking about the stupid challenge. She could not believe Chris showed her pictures of Duncan and Gwen just to get her pissed off. Actually, she could. Chris was evil, sadistic, and enjoyed their pain. She was just relieved that she and Gwen were friends again, because admittedly she missed her.
And she'd meant it when she said she didn't have to worry about Gwen kissing Scott, because she knew Gwen would not put their friendship on the line again, and she knew Scott wasn't interested in her at all.
"Well, aren't you a site for sore eyes."
Speaking of the devil. Courtney turned around, a smirk on her face. "I could say the same for you." She teased. Scott grinned, moving beside her on the balcony. "Whatcha doin' up so late at night?" He asked, turning to look at her. "Nothing much, just thinking about the challenge and how Fang nearly mauled you to death." She said.
He shuddered. "Ugh, you had no idea how terrifying that was." She actually felt extremely bad for the poor boy. Obviously, it hadn't been a pleasant experience for him. "Stupid Chris, rigging everything." She muttered. "Was he trying to get you killed?"
He grinned at her in spite of himself. "Aww, would you have missed me?" He teased. She felt her face go hot. "Well, o-of c-course." Courtney stammered, cursing herself for acting embarrassed. She straightened herself up and added, "Of course, while we still have teams, every teammate is needed."
"Are you sure that's the only reason? We both know how you love to have me around." She smiled up at him. "Well, I would have missed you more than a teammate I suppose." She mumbled.
He laughed. "If you and Gwen had gotten crazy while fighting, I'd have missed you too."
She looked at him. "Really?" She asked softly. He smiled, it was different from his normal smirk, more sincere, more gentle, and Courtney felt her heart stir warmly, in such a way it hasn't since season one of Total Drama.
To her surprise, he hugged her. He felt warm and secure and although her mind was cursing her for being so cliché, she didn't want him to let go. "Yeah." He murmured. "I need my girl around." She felt herself smiling.
"Besides, I don't know what I'd do without my little eye sore." He added. She pulled away, playfully smacking his shoulder. "Pfff, you shouldn't be talking." She gently prodded at his swollen eye, and grinned when he winced. He grinned at her, touching her cheek and softly running his thumb over her swollen eye. "Guess we're both eye sores."
She laughed, taking his hand and smiling. "I suppose we are." She smiled again, kissing his eye. He smiled at her, ignoring the slight pain and relishing the relief her kiss brought.
"Good night Scott." She said quietly, smiling.
"Good night Courtney." He mumbled, watching her as she disappeared into the hotel.
