Chapter 1:
Late August, on the twenty-second day. I left the city of Minas Tirith a fortnight ago.. I am headed towards Mirkwood. Some of my worst fears have been confirmed.. The ring that Frodo Baggins possesses my be the One. The Ring of Sauron.
"I think I see him. Just ahead.." Aragorn whispered, as he drew his arrow back, crouched in a bush. He glanced along the shaft.. And at the creature Gollum.
"Do not falter, my friend. I will circle around him, catch him by surprise." At that, the Wizard in Grey departed, drawing his sword, Glamdring. The Ranger of the North pulled back on his bowstring, feeling the quiver of the wood against him. He released the arrow, only to see it whistle by.
"They tries to hurts us!" The horrid creature yelled, scurrying away. A ring of blade was heard, and emerged Gandalf, swiping downward at the once Hobbit. Gollum leapt up, and kicked the Grey Wizard, sending him toppling. Aragorn then leapt out, his sword drawn. The two companions charged after the creature, slicing and stabbing, only to be awarded with misses. After a good ten minutes, Gollum was out of sight.
"We've lost him again. Maybe we can get the Elves to help ambush him.. Catch him once and for all." Aragorn said, walking back to his horse. Gandalf merely nodded.
Late August, on the twenty-fifth day. Gollum escaped us again. But we finally approach Mirkwood Forest. I can distantly hear the elven people, singing their songs while working. Aragorn and I have only had one other encounter in the past three standard days.. And it was for a fleeting moment.
"Gandalf! It has been quite a time since I have seen you!" an elf said, running up. The elf had long blonde hair, and brown clothes, blending with the trees for hunting. In his hand was a brown bow, elegant but simple, carved in the design of a Numenorean longbow. It had gold engravements of ivy in both limbs. He had half a quiver of the famed Mirkwood arrows, capable of firing 250 yards, with power. On his back, strapped under his quiver were two identical daggers, with ivory colored stone as handles, and long, thin, slightly curved blades. They were known as the White Knives. "Legalos, my old friend, how are you?" Gandalf said, placing a hand on the elf's back, his face growing into a smile. Aragorn stood slightly away from the two, shifting his five foot sword, feeling out of place. Legalos looked over at the Ranger, and then back at Gandalf, expecting an introduction. "This is my friend, Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and heir to the throne of Men." Gandalf said, raising a hand. Legalos looked over, and bowed slightly. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Aragorn. I am Legalos Greenleaf, Prince of Mirkwood. What can I do for you Gandalf?" he said, looking back at the wizard. "A small creature has escaped into the forests. We need to catch him, for fear that the Ring of Sauron, forged in the early ages, could be once wielded again by the Dark Lord." Aragorn said, stepping up to the conversation. The elf looked at the man, his eyes widening with urgency. "What of a description of the creature?" "He goes by the name of Gollum. He is a small creature, walking lower then my waist. He has little hair, and seems grey in color." Gandalf said. "We will be on it soon. Farewell." Legalos said, running off.
