Title: Awesome Bear

Prompt by: lilithisbitter

Summary: Barney and Lily discuss a very important bear and his wardrobe

A/N: Again I seem to have deviated a bit from the prompt but... – mostly dialogue.

Lily frowned.

"Barney," she said as delicately as possible, "it's just a teddy bear."

"And now, it's an awesome bear. I couldn't let him stay a Ted. That'd be animal cruelty."

"Barney, it's a stuffed animal."

"Yup." He adjusted the suite, centering the tie.

"Barney."

"Hmm..."

"Barney, look at me." Barney, annoyed, looked across the table to Lily. "You had a suit made, for Feely the Share Bear."

"And he looks awesomely cool, now." The small bear had on a tiny suit, black with some sort of white shirt and even a tie – and she was pretty sure it wasn't a clip on either.

"Barney, it's a Teddy bear."

"Correction, he is now an Awesome Bear."

"Barney, I'm gonna need the bear back."

"His name is Awesome–"

"His name is Feely the Share Bear."

"It was, before I awesomed him up."

"I can't believe you actually Barney-ed a teddy bear."

"Yup, I'm that awesome." He grinned.

"Barney, it's sad, it's not awesome. You're passing on your fear of opening up and you're habit of hiding behind your suits like it was some sort of armour onto a Teddy Bear, one who – at that – is suppose to help teach kids to open up and talk."

"Key words Lily, it was a TED-dy Bear. You were teaching a generation of kids to become like Ted. The world doesn't need any more Teds, they need awesome people, like me." He re-centered the bear's tie, a smile on his face.

"Barney, give me the bear."

"No."

"Give me the bear," she said a little more commanding, her hand out, palm up.

"It's my bear!" He brought the bear closer to his own body, away from Lily.

"It's not yours, it's mine!"

"Well, he likes me better than you!"

"Barney!"

"No!" He held onto the bear protectively, essentially hugging it.

"Give me the bear!"

"Never!"

"Hey guys!" Robin came into the bar.

Barney and Lily both froze for a second; Barney hugging onto his suited bear – his attention now turned to Robin – Lily glaring at him to give her the bear back, and Robin confused at the scene she had just walked in on.

"What ya doing?..." she asked puzzled, eyes on the bear.

"Nothing."

"Barney," Lily hissed.

Barney frowned, unable to protest, he – unwillingly and uncomfortably with a silent farewell – gave Lily the bear back.
