Felicity Smoak was always helping Oliver Queen out of whatever sticky situation he found himself in on that particular day. None of those situations were ever as emotional, for either of them, as the one she had found him in earlier tonight.

Tommy Merlyn was Oliver's best friend. Malcolm Merlyn was Tommy's father. Malcolm was a criminal who was hell-bent on the destruction of Starling City, and in league with Oliver's mother, Moira; he successfully blew up half of the city. Accidentally killing his son in the process. Oliver found Tommy as he lay dying, a chunk of debris piercing through his stomach. Oliver sat next to Tommy as he died, holding his hand in his final moments. Those few minutes felt like a lifetime. Since that night, Oliver has promised himself he will not kill anybody else, no matter what. Or, that's what he thought.

Tonight, Felicity was kidnapped by the infamous villain known as Count Vertigo. As the Count held her captive, Oliver stood in front of them, quiver loaded, aiming for the Count's chest. Seeing Felicity in that situation did something to Oliver's emotions that surprised even him. Seeing her so defenceless, so endangered, made him feel enraged, heartbroken, and if anything happened to her, it would kill him. Suddenly, Oliver shot three arrows into Vertigo's chest almost simultaneously, killing him on impact.

Untying Felicity, Oliver looked her in the eyes.

"I broke my promise, Felicity."

"Ollie, you did what needed to be done. If it wasn't for you, I- I'd be dead. You're my hero, Mr. Queen."

"I managed for so long..."

"There is light and dark in all of us, Oliver. It just takes one little push to bring the dark to life. No matter how long that side of you lies dormant, it will always be there. Sometimes, we have to do things that appear as 'dark' for the greater good. For the sake of the 'light'."

"What would I do without, you, Smoak?"

Felicity wrapped her arms around Oliver's neck.

"Crash and burn, there's no doubt about it." She whispered into his ear, just before she kissed his forehead.

"I love you, Ollie."

"I love you too, Felicity."
