The Gift of the Magi

It was nearing the summer solstice, and Inuyasha and Kagome wanted to surprise each other with a special gift on the holiday. But they were both broke and didn't know what to do-until one day, they each figured out what they could do. Kagome went off to the northeast, and Inuyasha went to the west, both of them keeping their plans secret.
Finally, the special day came. Inuyasha and Kagome both had presents for each other, and the others had surprises, too. "Cool!" Shippou exclaimed at the demon-bone present that Sango gave him. "It's a new top"
Kirara mewed happily as she received her fish-toy. Sango shyly approached Miroku, who was equally shy.
"I got you something," Sango said quietly. "I got something for you, too," Miroku said, blushing. He handed her a small cloth-covered bundle.
As she opened it, she saw the most beautiful dress she had ever seen. She gasped in wonder. Miroku was opening his present to find a new outfit as well, a deep blue haori and a deep purple hakama.
Inuyasha and Kagome watched, then slowly looked at each other. Inuyasha hesitantly stepped over to Kagome. "I got a present for you," they both said at the same time.
"You first," Kagome said. "Well...I sort of didn't have any money, so I sold the Tetsusaiga to Sesshoumaru to buy you a new necklace to put the jewel on," he said as he shyly held out the jar.
"Oh, Inuyasha! You didn't have to! But...I didn't have any money either, so I sold the Shikon Jewel to Naraku to buy you a new sheath from Toutousai..." Kagome said as she presented the scabbard.
As they slowly realized what they had done, with the others staring at them when they heard, a horrifying realization greeted them.
"You mean..." Shippou started, incredulous. "Oh, shit"
Suddenly, Sesshoumaru and Naraku appeared, grinning.
"This was the best summer solstice I ever had," Naraku remarked.
"For once, Naraku, I have to agree," Sesshoumaru said.
"Baka," Shippou shook his head.
