The Cry of a Lonely Heart
Prologue
Screams echoed through out the lab, Pleas and begging for something to stop. Then the cries dies off suddenly and a new cry emerged, that of an enormous beast. "The test failed...Its not this one. The other is the one we want." The monster thrashed and broke its chains. Leaping to its paws it charged through a near by window and on to a lower roof top. Its claws gouging into the wood and thin metal. Its only thoughts were on getting to what had been her home before the men in black came. She pushed this new form of her to its limits to accomplish that, falling, stumbling and running into things. Finally she stood outside her door only to see it had been broken open and her mother lie on the floor blood on her temple a mess around her. An ear turned and she heard the cry of the one she was looking for. She dashed down the alley way and saw the crimson red hair of her younger sister in the arms of a man in black.
She charged attacking the man in black who dropped the kid and tried to escape the beast. She tossed him into a wall with a swat and his head made an odd crunching sound. The child had fainted but the beast carefully picked her up in its mouth and ran back for the house. She noticed her mother was laying outside, it began to rain. "Go now! They will come again. Take her away from this place, my Child. Never allow them to take her, like you she has a special power. Only you can't reach yours right now, but your time will come. Hurry now I will buy you some time. Know you are loved my daughters." The beast's eyes misted but she blinked the tears away. She darted away knowing there was only one place she could hide her sister where that man couldn't have her. She would have to take her to another world.
She slipped through the world gate and ran through the darkness, the path forming before her and vanishing behind her. The powerful strides getting longer and stronger as she ran on through the blackness, yet she could see the path clearly before her. She ran on for what seemed like days. Suddenly she was in a small cave and she had to wiggle to get out of it. She saw an island in the distance under a sea of stars. Into the warm water she went after placing the small child into a boat she had found on shore she used the rope tied to it to pull it through the calm night water. It took her some time to swim across towing the little boat but when she made it she dragged the boat ashore and shook off before picking up the little bundle once again.
It to her awhile to find the largest nicest house on the island. But she laid her bundle on the doorstep ruffled the soft red hair, slammed the door a few times with her tail before vanishing into the darkness of a nearby alley. The door was opened by a kindly looking couple who took the child inside and dried her off and had her change into warm, dry clothes. "what is your name child? Where are you from?" Big deep blue eyes looked at the nice people. "Kairi, I don't know where home is.. Do you?" The couple exchanged glances and smiled. "How would you like to stay here Kairi?"The little child agreed. The beast who had been a child only a few years older stood out in the darkness hoping her sister would never need the memories she had suppressed. The spell would only be released if she truly needed those memories, and with that our story begins.
