The assassin knelt on the roof, crossbow in hands, primed and ready. He observed everything - the waving leaves, the wind on this face, his target below. He could see the flight of his bolt, the way it would slice the air, sever the spinal cord, leave him dead with barely a trace. A single shot.

He pulled the trigger.

The bolt cleaved the wind, shooting true to its master's predictions. Time seemed to slow down. This was it. The Fire Lord would be dead, and the war would be halfway to over.

The projectile hit his neck.

And bounced off.

What? Ozai was searching the rooftops from where he stood. The assassin ducked behind the turret to his right. There was no way he could see him now. No way. Nevertheless, he could feel his target's gaze burning into his back even through the turret. Something tugged at his hand for a brief second. He looked, tensing even more.

Nothing.

He felt it again. It felt like someone was tugging on his very bones, the way his hand jerked out to the side. The assassin tugged it back behind the turret. The tug came again, pulling on his entire body this time, jerking him out from behind the turret into full view of Ozai. The Fire Lord had his arm outstretched, hand relaxedly held up. The target made a beckoning motion, and the assassin's body flew towards him, unnaturally held in some sort of hidden power. What was this?!

His face was only inches from his target's. Ozai made his intentions known with a single question. "Did you fire this?" He pointed to the crossbow bolt.

The assassin panicked. "Um - um - n-no…sir?"

Ozai wrinkled his nose in disgust.

"Liar."

Crunch.

Woah. Talk about sudden death. Anyways, am I really the only person who…you know what? Never mind. Spoilers and all that. But review anyways. Please.
