A/N: Written for my girlfriend as part of a larger drabble project. I realise this pairing is completely random, but I can't help myself. I really, really sort of like it.

All Good Things
Getting married again was never a consideration for him and as such, the two of them simply chose not to. She didn't find marriage all that meaningful. Time was endless, indescribable and their relationship probably wouldn't make it past a fraction of the universal history anyway.
If it lasted a hundred years or more, it still wouldn't measure up. It was, to her, an almost reluctant sort of relief, not because the relationship was difficult (though it was) or because they were too different (they definitely weren't), but because she knew eternity - and pleasure didn't last that long, all things would lose significance at one point or another.
Byakuya would watch her silently when she spoke of this, tolerating the logic because he didn't want to blind himself into thinking differently. Setsuna would leave them both satisfied with his decision, as she was by nature a settler of conflicts.
They both knew the nature of loneliness and they embraced the necessity of it at all costs because the laws of the world could not, would not, be any different.
