Her Innocence

Her innocence lies torn apart in the rain,
defeated and violated;
By choice or addiction, reasons long forgiven.

Her innocence lies soaking in the mud,
wet,cold, abandoned;
By the one who cherished it the most.

Her innocence lies rotting under the soil,
Buried and forgotten,
Returning to the Earth, fusing with the elements.

Her innocence sprouts from the ground,
Green, pure and youthful Nourished by the tears of the sky.

Her innocence blossoms in my eyes-

Beautiful, white, and pink.

It is picked up by a young girl,
Who takes it as her own.

Perhaps this time, her innocence won't be

Discarded casually like bubble gum,
Consumed unthoughtfully like chocolate.

Perhaps this time,
For the first time,
Her innocence will be Cherished.
