Epilogue
It had been two long years since they had all been together. Two long years of fighting, training, studying and more fighting, always the fighting. Were it not for the immediate and obvious urgency from the flame haired Witch's message to them all they would still have been separated. Spike and Angel would have remained in Los Angeles as that was where they were the most useful. Buffy would have stayed in Italy making the most of her well-deserved and well earned 'Retirement' with Dawn. Willow would have remained with Kennedy in South America, Robin and Faith would continue training the new Slayers in Cleveland. Xander would have remained stationed in London with Giles as the two most senior field operative watchers. But the urgency of Willows message could not be ignored and as they all stood looking over the crater of what was once Sunnydale Willow cleared her throat and began.
"Thank you all for coming, I know it has been a while and we all have things to do that are of the utmost importance."
"Bloody right Red, cut to the chase would you."
It had been only 6 months since Spike had to hunt down and kill Gunn, the former Demon Hunter had become one of the most ruthless and cruel Vampires in an incredibly short amount of time and had to be stopped. It was Angel who found him but Spike who killed him. Angel simply couldn't do it, with all that his old friend had endured Angel simply didn't have the stomach to despatch him. So it was left to Spike, and despatch him he did. The fight lasted hours, first one, and then the other would gain the upper hand until finally through luck more than anything Spike managed to dust him. Gunn was standing on a rotting floor in an old church when it gave way under his weight and collapsed, after the dust cleared Spike saw Gunn impaled and stuck by an old pole. With a short and silent "Sorry" Spike plunged his stake fair into his chest and watched him explode into nothing and silently left the church wiping a solitary tear from his cheek. He would never let anyone know how hard it was for him to kill Gunn, it would be his personal torture.
"A group of seers and I were searching for more Potentials last week when we found one, we learned where they live and sent an emissary to open dialogue as per procedure. What they found when they arrived defied everything we knew, we thought we knew about Slayers."
"Would you just spit it out Will?"Xander had lost much of his humour and light heartedness in the last two years as the burden of his duty weighed on him.
Willow looked them all in the eyes and spoke slowly, as though she couldn't believe what she was about to say herself even though she knew it was true.
"The next Slayer is called Jessie Reynolds, and it's a man."
