Departing
by Bast
Bishop folded the flaps on the card board box and tucked them. "Guess that's it."
Bobby, intent on a file, simply grunted.
She sighed, picked up the box, and made for the door. She looked back once (Bobby's
face was inscrutable) and suddenly collided with something soft. Items spilled into
the hall--pens, papers, gloves, a blue knit hat, a yellow plastic duck she carried
like a rabbit's foot.
"Oh, God, I'm sorry. Let me help you."
Eames looked radiant. The two women bent to retrieve the items and suddenly,
inexplicably, Eames brushed Bishops' cheek with her lips.
"Thanks for taking care of him", she said.
