Here's a short story for you. :D Enjoy!

The jet black hedgehog with blood red stripes sat on the damp grass. He brushed his hand over the grass, feeling the softness between his fingers. It was a cold, breezy night, the wind flying between the gaps in his quills, making him shiver. It was peaceful where he sat, no people, no interruptions, just him and his thoughts, alone in the tall, rugged mountain.

He squinted into darkness, looking down at the bright lights of the city. There were greens, purples, reds, any colour you could possibly think of, it was there. But the ebony hedgehog much preferred the robust oak trees and lively, chipping crickets to the mile high skyscrapers and fancy billboards.

He took his crimson eyes off of the bright city and looked up to the sky. It was a black midnight sky, just like him. In fact, anyone who came up the mountain at this time of night wouldn't see him. He was like a chameleon, blending into the sky. The only thing interrupting the darkness was the city, and tiny, white stars, letting out little puddles of grey light.

The hedgehog lay back on the grass. His head got wet, tiny droplets running down his quills, but he couldn't care less. He saw the ARK, very faintly, but it was there. He could make out the shape of the Eclipse Cannon, and the Eggman shaped features.

He let out a long sigh, putting his arms behind his head, as he thought about Gerald. He cringed as he remembered a beautiful, blonde, long and wavy haired girl, with azure eyes as bright as the sun, and a smile as brilliantly white as the finest snowflake. He remembered her wonderful silk dress, her hair adorned with a matching headband.

He remembered the GUN invading the ARK, capturing Gerald, rushing to the escape pods with the girl. The agent kicked down her door, aimed the gun, and...

He opened his eyes and shit upright. He couldn't bear thinking about it. His eyes wandered, until they landed on a puffy white dandelion clock. He watched it majestically glide though the air, and the light breeze blew it towards him. He reached out to push it away, and it felt like a miniature cloud, warm and fluffy. He smiled.

Suddenly, he heard a rustling in the bush beside him. He shot up, fists clenched, ready to fight. He inched closer reaching out to part the thick green leaves. He jumped as there was a brilliant flash of yellow, and out flew the creature, into another bush further away. Confused, the midnight hedgehog slowly and tenderly walked up to the bush, and shook the leaves. He saw two big, azure eyes lock onto his. They were filled with sadness and wide with fear. The hedgehog stood there, waiting for this mysterious creature to realise he was no threat.

Slowly, the creature lifted it's head out of the bush. This was no creature, it was a girl. She had long blonde hair, azure eyes, and rosy cheeks. Among her dirty hair, he saw a torn, silk blue hairband. His eyes widened, his mouth dropped open.

"It can't be..." he whispered. "Maria..."
