Something There

First Verse, Belle

Harry smiled softly as he took the seat Severus pulled out for him. He normally hated the charity banquets the Ministry constantly asked him to attend, but Snape had surprised him by offering to be his escort when his original date had cancelled at the last minute. He wondered idly why he'd never bothered to see this side of the man in the past.

Second Verse, Beast

Severus stood after they had sat there watching couples dance for nearly an hour and offered Harry his hand. The younger wizard took it nervously, and Severus whirled them both around and onto the dance floor. For the first few minutes of the song, Harry stared at his feet, but when Severus placed his thumb and forefinger on the boy's chin, he looked up and allowed himself to be led in the steps of the dance. Severus saw a light blush begin to spread over the tan cheeks as they stared into one another's eyes, and wondered at the new emotion he saw there.

Third Verse, Belle

Harry found himself confused by the emotions coursing through him as they danced to the slow music emanating from the orchestra the Ministry had hired. He had never felt like this, towards anyone, and could never have expected that Severus would so easily steal away his affections with just a few small gestures. When the song ended, he drew the older man out onto one of the many balconies, not feeling the light nip in the air. They stood there together, each one looking anywhere but at their companion, until finally, Harry turned to say something at the same time Severus did. Their eyes met, and Harry was lost in the black depths. Neither man could say who leaned in first, but their lips met in a passionate kiss as they both acknowledged the feelings that had sprouted and bloomed in the event of a single evening spent in one another's company.
