[[Summary: Little part that got left out of Girl in the Fireplace. Rose/Ten. No Reinette bashing]]
[AN: Well in short I got sick of everyone bashing Reinette and Girl in the Fireplace. I agree, Rose and the Doctor = love but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about anyone else. Either way this is my little fic, one-shot, something.]
{Disclaimer: Ok start of season six Jack is going to meet the 11th doctor and get some sense beaten into his head, then get dropped back on earth to protect it from aliens and WHAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN I DON'T OWN DOCTOR WHO? HUH? WHAT WAS THAT? OF COURSE I—WHAT? I DON'T OWN TORCHWOOD EITHER? T.T *sob*}
The Girl in the Broken Mirror
(A Doctor Who One-shot) By Selena Anuri
Somewhere in the piles of rejected or cut Doctor Who footage there is a piece that goes like this:
"There's got to be some way through!" Rose persisted watching the doctor as he jumped between the console table and the wires that spewed from the walls of the fifty first century space ship.
"No," He shouted back, face looking desperate and frustrated as he explained, "smash the glass smash the time windows. There'd be no way back." The last words cut deep and all retorts Rose had been formulating feel dead on her lips till she could only stare back into her doctor's pain filled eyes.
Through the glass, from 1758 Reinette's regale commanding voice came, so different from how it had sounded only moments before, filled with fear. "Would everyone please just calm down," she told her guests. "Please such a commotion, such distressing noise! Kindly remember that this is Versailles, this is the Royal Court and we are French," her words became pompous and prideful in a manner that instilled the same feeling in everyone in the room who quieted immediately.
Rose back on the intergalactic space ship turned to the doctor. "We can't just leave her there!" She demanded. It was true Rose had only met Reinette in person once and just thinking of her made every fiber of Rose's heart tremor with jealousy, but Rose had liked her. They shared that knowledge, as Sarah Jane had shared with Rose, of just how important the Doctor was. After listening to her mother and Mickey ridicule her on why she'd risk everything for her alien companion it was nice to know that someone else understood.
"What can we do Rose?" The doctor asked her angrily, his voice tainted with helplessness and conflicted feelings. Hearing him that way twisted Rose's heart even as it was drowning in jealousy. "What can I do?" He continued, "This ship barely works, it's nothing but a broken hull and some human organs strung together with wire and duck-tape. The only way through is to break the glass and hope that some connection will…"
Rose stepped forward, throwing her arms around her Doctor and cutting him off mid-rant. Burying her face in his shoulder, breathing in his sent for a moment and promising herself that it wouldn't be the last time, she whispered, "just go." His strong arms pushed her back and held her there so he could meet her chocolate eyes with his own.
"You're sure?" He asked, knowing she was; it was written across her face.
"You'd never forgive yourself if you didn't…" Rose smiled weakly through her eyes were spilling tears. Her Doctor gave that thankful look that made her heart flutter and pulled her into a tight but brief embrace. All too soon it was over and he was gone, running to Reinette's side. "And I believe you'll find a way back," she murmured to herself and the empty air, looking at the floor where her tears fell. 'I'll wait,' she thought, 'for as long as it takes. I'll wait for you, My Doctor.'
[AN: Well there! I don't like the idea of the Doctor abandoning Rose so I came up with this. ^^ hope you liked it and thanks for reading.-Sel]
