This is the first time I have ever done this...please be gentle! Just a small note...Story starts during the episode of the Little Prince when they are all at the docks. Kate doesn't go back with the others, and since nobody went looking for Claire she never came back.

Aaron-3 years old.

Little Aaron Austen sat in the back of Sun's car. They were at a place he didn't recongize and was alarmed when she got out and left him alone. He was about to call for her, when out of the partially open window, he saw Jack. Aaron smiled and waved, his heart fell when Jack didn't even look at him. He hadn't seen Jack in in days and really missed him, he left right in the middle of the book they were reading. Mommy said she would finish it but it just wasn't the same, she didn't use the right voices for the characters. He looked past Jack and saw his mother, she was talking to a man he had never seen before, and she sounded angry. Aaron leaned foward to try and hear..."why can't you just leave me and my son alone"..."Because, he's not your son, Kate"...Aaron's heart skipped a beat. What was he talking about he thought. Why else would I call her mommy? His three year old logic told him. He was satisifed with his own answer when the memory of a similar conversation he had overheard days earlier in his kitchen popped into his mind..."your son? Your not even RELATED to him"... Aaron sat back with confused tears in his eyes. He wanted to cry but before he had the chanAaronce Kate yanked the car door and grabbed him out of his seat. Once he was buckled in his own car seat, Kate sat silently with her head resting on the steering wheel. Aaron worked up the neve to speak. "Mommy?" he asked uncertainley. Kate said nothing at first. "try and sleep baby, we're going home." He satred blankly out the window the rest of the way home.

Once Aaron was tucked safely in his bed, he had a dream that he only vaguely remembered the next morning. He dreamed of a warm sun on the back of his head, he saw rays of golden light and when he reached up, a tiny fist grabbed on to a fistfull of hair, he heard a quiet laugh, then blackness.

Kate-

Kate paced back and fourth in her living room. How dare he she thought angirly. How could he ask her to go back to that place. Kate sat down on the couch and put her head in her hands. What did he expect to find there anyway, she thought. Even if everyone we left behind was still alive, how did he expect to get back here again, they barely made it the first time around. Then, the thought she had been ignoring for three years came to the surface. Claire. What if she came back. Would she try and take Aaron away from her? She thought of the little boy sleeping upstairs and the cozy little life she created for them. She thought about what Jack and Ben had both said..."he's not your son" Kate stood up. "NO" she said outloud. I don't care what Jack, or Ben, or even Claire says. He is mine, and nobody is going to take him from me.
