He faulted. I've never seen Dimitri Falter. I ran towards him and the blond Strigoi that had grabbed him. The one who threatened Lissa. Nathan I think his name is. I kept charging as was able to knock Dimitri away from him. Dimitri hit his head against the ground as I had pushed him and was fighting to stay conscious. I had fallen to the ground and was grappling with Nathan to keep him away from me.

"Dimitri, Stay awake." I shouted. Nathan then launched himself at me and I immediately started to fight back. I heard footsteps coming towards this part of the cave and was momentarily distracted. In that brief moment I was pushed in the chest by Nathan and flew back and hit a wall. I slid to the ground and tried to get up but kept on failing. I then saw that I wasn't far away from Dimitri.

"Rose" I heard someone scream. I looked up to see my mum and a few other guardians coming back into the cave.

"Get Dimitri out" I shouted.

"No" she shouted as she ran towards me.

"Please. I'll be fine. You can trust me. Just go" I knew I wasn't ok but I needed her to get Dimitri out. She nodded at me and her and the other 2 guardians ran over to Dimitri. He was still conscious and I saw him looking at me. I knew that he wanted to help but he couldn't do anything.

"I love you" I mouthed. "and I'm sorry" I finished. The guardian got him up and started over to the exit and I saw Dimitri finally lose consciousness. I felt the Strigoi pull me up of the ground by my hair and put his teeth on my neck. I struggled and struggled against his hold but nothing was happening. Nathan then bit down on my neck and I screamed out so loud that it echoed through the whole cave and probably all the way to the academy. My mum abruptly turned around and saw what was happening. She tried to run towards me but one of the guardians let go of Dimitri and ran toard her and restrained her. He must of known I was about to turn or die.

"she's gone Janine. We have to get out more are coming" she broke into tears but let him drag her out of the cave.

I knew I was about to pass out. The one question raced through my mind. Am I about to become the monster I am sworn to kill? Then I passed out.
