Screwed-Up Fairytale
Once upon a time, in a far away land,
There lived a princess in a magic world
And she had it all,
From the servants to the party gowns.
Her dad was king, her mom was a fair queen,
They gave her everything, to make her happy,
And it worked, until she was sixteen.
Cause then she met a prince whom she fell in love with,
But he was a jerk and he broke her heart,
So she was lying in her bedroom,
Crying herself to sleep,
And she said,
Why did this happen?
Am I not good enough?
Why did a good thing, like this end up so wrong?
Isn't this supposed to be a fairytale?
Where's the happy ending?
Nothing but sadness.
So she went out to the village to meet up,
With some old friends from the other kingdoms,
And they all
Went around to the marketplace.
Oh, oh no!
Cause then she met a merchant whom she fell in love with,
But he was a thief and he stole her heart,
So she was crying near the fountain,
Wishing the pain away.
And she said,
Why did this happen?
Am I not good enough?
Why did a good thing, like this end up so wrong?
Isn't this supposed to be a fairytale?
Where's the happy ending?
Nothing but sadness.
How did this happen?
Someone please answer me
Why does this sorrow just keep on coming back?
Is there no love anywhere on this world?
There's no happy ending,
Just the pain of heartbreak.
She got tired of living,
Wondering if there was any purpose to life.
Instead she chose to end it.
So she went off to the edge of the woods
And she wrote,
Please forgive me,
Maybe my decision's rash,
I'm so sorry for any pain that this may cause.
Please don't cry, I'm going to a better place.
Just remember- it was my own choice to die.
She took out a knife, left the letter in its place,
Slit her wrist, and that's where the story ends.
No one saw her tears, no one came to her rescue,
When they found the letter,
There was nothing left to do.
Cause not all fairytales have a happy ending.
