Upcoming Rain

It was a rainy day at the old Akatsuki lair and Konan sat at the edge of a long ledge looking out at the rain; alone.

It has now been four months since that damned fox jinjuriki killed the fierce leader, and the rest of the Akatsuki members had died. He killed Pein and Nagato, Kakashi had killed Kakuzu (all four of them), and Sasuke killed Itachi and Deidara (well Deidara blew himself up but while trying to kill Sasuke). That lazy kid Shikanara or whatever blew Hidan to bits and buried him under a bunch of rocks, the eighth jinjuriki killed Kisame…twice, and Zetsu was killed by Naruto too. Even Madara faced the wrath of the nine tails boy, but Konan had escaped.

She now sat, alone, where her beloved friend once sat for long periods of time just staring at the rain fall. She now knew why too, it was beautiful.

Soon, she felt the warm drops fall on her face instead of cold ones. Her dark blue eyeliner ran down her face in streaks as she silently cried, alone, for the hundredth time since he died.

Konan sat back and welcomed the tears, letting them flow in the rain. She looked up, wanting the rain to fall on her face as if they were someone else.

"Oh, Pein," she silently spoke. "Why did you have to have peace in the world? All that was needed was you; in my world. But now I don't even have that."

She stood from her new favorite sitting place and walked towards the entrance to inside. She turned to look at the rain and in her memories; she saw the back of a spikey, orange haired man sitting on the rainy ledge. He turned and gave her a rare smile that only she was allowed to see. He would say her name in a voice that made her show a soft smile, 'Konan.'

With a sad smile on her pale lips, she turned to go inside and put her arms around her plump stomach.

She took one last look at the seat and softly whispered, "Pein…we may have lost the battle, but the war is not over yet my beloved."

And with that she turned and walked away from the wet balcony, holding her growing belly, and waited for the next upcoming battle.
