So were his littermates, Littlekit and Brownkit
Why is Brokenstar making them fight?
Newtspeck protested
They were only two moons
Yellowfang tried to make him see reason
But they all failed
Ordered to attack Mosspaw
He was only a moon older
Wetkit and Brownkit came in on the sides
Mosspaw squealed
His body lay motionless on the marshy ground
Fury raged in their leader's eyes
Mosspaw's mother ran forward
Featherstorm yelled at Brokenstar
Her grandson had just caused the death of her kit
Wetkit felt horrible; I killed my denmate; it was only an accident; just an accident; Wetkit's accident

We started eating real prey yesterday
Yellowfang took the horror-stricken kits back to camp
