A/N: This… depressing… No other way to put it… Anyway… this is before Jeb sprung them out… One-shot.
WARNING! CHARACTER DEATH!
Max P.O.V.
"Alright, just one more test and we are all done." The stupid man in the white lab coat said as he injected me with a needle. The stuff inside made my whole body burn but I wouldn't scream. I've learned that it only them happy.
I just want to get out of here. The boy with black hair is my 'best friend' I guess you could say. The little girl with the blonde hair is my favorite.
She's so young and yet she knows so much. The one with the hair the color of strawberries and the black haired boy both try to fight the men in the white coats who we have grown to call 'white coats' every time that they come for me or any of the others.
There is the one white coated man who always is so nice to me. He gave me strawberries and hot cocoa once. He says that we are going to get out here one day. None of us believe him.
The men are done and they pick me up—not the way that the nice man does, but in mean way that they do—and throw me in my cage again. The blonde haired girl and her brother are crying and I don't know why. The black haired boy looks like he has had tears in his eyes recently and I instantly feel protective.
Whatever made him cry must have been a lot. He never cries.
"What's wrong?" I ask as they turn out the lights and leave for the night with us in the darkness. Although we never see them, we know that there are more people who are different than the strange men because we hear them cry at night.
"They're gone…" The black haired boy said with a sniffle.
Automatically, I counted like the nice man had taught me to; and we were missing two of us.
"Where are they?" I asked just as I heard the door open. I was scared, what if they had died? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if they had.
It was they nice man that had helped me. He had the other two in his hands just like the way that he had always carried me.
"We're leaving." He said. "Just like I had always promised."
Just like that we were out the door. The nice man's son wanted to come.
He said, "Daddy, I want to live with you. I don't like it here."
I wondered if he was different.
We don't like it here either I wanted to call out. I wanted him to come with us desperately.
Just as I was about to say that; the nice man left without another word. Maybe he didn't want him anymore.
I didn't think that was possible. Who wouldn't want this nice little boy?
We were leaving but one of the giant wolves started following us. We got faster and he got faster.
Finally, the black haired boy slipped away with the boy whose hair is the color of strawberries. They tried to take out their wings and fly away from the wolf as they realized they couldn't win.
They had never flown before though—none of us had.
The last thing I remember is their screams as the giant wolf tore them to pieces like they were nothing important.
To me, they will always be my brothers, my best friend, and the people who kept me going.
I don't know if the others will remember them. I will. Forever and always, no matter what happens, they will always be next to me.
A/N: Soooooo sorry that it's so depressing. And short. Maybe I'll add another chapter… I don't know… Don't count on it anytime soon, I'm working on my other story Reunion.
