Valentine's Day
Howdy folks! Yup, It's me again! J Y'all know the deal by now; don't own them and probably never will. I originally posted this short story at the VCTF Command Center BB.
Oh yeah, before I forget…. Metallica=bad! Napster=J !!!
If you can pull this off…
I've never done something like this before. Not even when I was married, I didn't have the guts to do something like this.
It's close to closing time at the Task Force on this rainy Valentine's Day in Atlanta, and everyone's gone home for the night. Thank God for that. I don't enjoy having an audience, especially not when it's something like this.
If George didn't turn it off, you're going to be in some hot water…
I was amazed when George said he was going to help me out. He'd leave at nine tonight, he said, but before he left, he would have to run some diagnostic tests on the VCTF's camera system, which they'd, unfortunately, have to be taken off-line to do.
And they'd be off for the rest of the night.
I can't help but begin to feel nervous as I make my way to his office, and-big surprise-the lights are still on, the dim light glowing through the drawn shades. I grin, my hand almost on the doorknob, when I hear a voice. HIS voice.
"Sam, I know this isn't the most ideal place for this, but…you would do me the greatest honor…if you would marry me."
"Oh Bailey…you didn't even have to ask," She replies, her voice filled with joy. I halt, turn right around and head towards the elevator doors, thoughts roaring through my head.
Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll be able to do a swan dive from this height and land face first on the pavement below…
I should have known…I should have known all along…
…You, Janet, are a fool. You blew it.
The doors closed shut behind me, and I left the Task Force for the last time, my sight blinded by the tears in my eyes.
