Simone knew she had screwed up. She had seriously screwed up. Living in the past, afraid of rejection and trying to please her oppressive aunt and boss. Licking the years old wounds Amanda had left her instead of letting the happiness of today soothe the hurts of yesterday. Pushing Annabelle away was the "right" decision in terms of good morality and exactly what her aunt would want her to do. Her aunt would commend her for being a good Christian and fighting off those sinful thoughts. But Simone didn't want that. Simone wanted Annabelle. Annabelle was Simone's life, present tense.
