Airship
It was the day. The day of the invasion, it was now or never. And it was life or death. One minute I was running along the top of a Firenation airship, it was breaking up right under my feet. I held Sokka's hand as tight as I could, we were running for our lives. We jumped from one half of the airship to the other, as it disintergrates below us. We stumbled, then tripped. Sokka threw himself over me, shielding me. I could feel his heartbeat pulsing, it was a mixture of anger, fear, adrenaline, and something else. I didn't know what that was at the time. We managed to scramble to our feet, running for our lives. Then we fell.
Sokka managed to slow our fall with his sword, lodging it in the side of the ship. We landed on a balcony, Sokka yelled in pain. And that was how i found myself now. I was going to fall, but Sokka was holding my arm. He was my lifeline, without him I was dead, if I slipped i would fall a thousand feet, maybe more. I felt tears well up in my eyes. Sokka clutched my arm tightly. "Hold on Toph!" he yelled. I didn't realize what i said until I finished the scentance. "Aye Aye captain!" Then his sword fell. "Goodbye space sword." I heard him mumble. "We're going to die, aren't we?" I cried, as my hand began to slip. "No Toph! Don't let go!" Sokka yelled, desperately clutching my hand. I let tears run freely down my cheeks. My arm began slipping more. We were now holding each others wrists. "Toph, you can't die! I won't let you!" Sokka yelled, I felt tear drops on my arm. We were now holding hands, Sokka leaned over the edge, at this rate he would fall too. "No Toph! Don't fall! Everybody I have ever loved has been torn away from me by the Firenation! My Mom was stolen from me. Yue was murdered, Katara is probably dead! But not you! I won't let you die! I can't let you die.' My hand slipped more. "Sokka, I love you. I can't let you die on my account." My hand had slipped so far our fingers were the only thing together. "No! Toph please, don't go. I love you!" Sokka cried out. And then, of all the good luck Suki came. She grabbed Sokka's legs as our fingers parted. Sokka lunged down, catching my arm again. He used his other arm that had previously been stopping him falling, to pull me up. As soon as I was safe, Suki released Sokka's legs. "Oh thank you! Thank you." Sokka cried. He held me tight, pulling me into his chest. I felt his heartbeat, fast yet steady. "I couldn't have lost you. Not you Toph. I love you too much." We just held each other. For however long it was. Suki sat there gasping for breath, like she had been running. Probably looking for us. "Don't leave me again Toph." Sokka whispered, kissing my forehead. "I won't." It was all I could say. I leaned back, and put my arm out to Suki, she took my hand and squeezed it. "Thank you, Suki. That is twice you saved my sorry hide." I felt Sokka's warm hand on my cheek, and as I turned to 'face' him, he kissed me. My first kiss, on the balcony of a firenation airship, covered in blood, whether it was mine or not i don t know, and ash.
When we returned to the ground, Aang met us with Zuko and Katara. Aang had won the war was finally over. Sokka kissed me again. And that night we sat together under the gaze of the moon.
I know it's cheesy. But it's my first fanfic. Reveiws are welcome. Thanks for reading.
