Evan stared at the girl he loved, with another boy. She had just kissed his cheek, declaring him a genius. That was what he wanted to be in her eyes: a genius, someone smart enough to be with her, to protect her, to love her.

He already did love her, with all his soul, that was why he was sacrificing his time, night and day, lying to his parents, to help her.

He was a boy, a nerd, with red hair and coke-bottle glasses. She was a girl with gorgeous auburn hair, jade eyes, and a kind heart. They fit together perfectly...until she had met Jake.

Suddenly, she had become more distant, closed, and now, she had just kissed Jake, the imposter's cheek.

Evan Tolliver: he was the loving boyfriend, and Amy Cahill was his loving girlfriend.

The world had spun with her beauty, her wit, her charm. The world, his world, had now crashed into reality.

Evan stared at the two pictures of the lizards. One an original, and one switched. He stared at the vibrant colors, and decided now was his chance: His chance to shine before Amy.

He pulled out his phone and began typing a series of texts to Amy.

Later, when he met up with Amy, she seemed distant and cold, and when trying to spend time with her, he found himself being pushed away.

He didn't care. Anything for her.

In due time, she would realize her faults, and come back to him, arms open wide, with a smile on her face.

Ian and Evan sat in the cold command center, waiting for news to arrive from Amy Cahill, the girl they had, at one time or another, or even in present time, loved.

When the phone rang, Evan jumped for it, hoping to hear his beloved's voice saying his name.

Instead it was Pheonix Wizard, the missing hostage.

Evan stared blankly at the walls of the truck carrying him away. He knew this would be the final battle, something deep inside him knew.

What he didn't know, however, was that this was HIS final battle.

When they found Amy, with a deep laceration on her forehead, but smiling at him, something deep inside him was touched.

When she came and gave him a hug, he knew everything would be ok.

But suddenly, she released him, and glanced over at Jake, who was glaring at him with the eyes of a tiger stalking its prey.

Evan knew his time with Amy was limited. He determined to make the best of it.

His chest throbbed, and he looked down at the blood flowing from a whole in his chest.

He watched, breathlessly, as his body fell to the floor.

He glanced around him, looking for Amy, but she was with Jake.

He saw Natalie fall, struck unconscious by the killer machine.

He hoped, dreamed, prayed that Amy would find him, and come to him before his time was up.

When she did, he sank back to the floor with relief.

They talked, last words between two in a broken relationship.

He felt his chest contract, and he knew the end was near. He stared up into the face of the girl he loved...and suddenly, and all went black.

Amy stared at Evan, the boy she was going to dump. His eyes were open, staring at nothing. As she watched, his arm fell off his chest and hit the ground with a dull thunk.

"I'm sorry, Evan." She whispered. Then she stood up, and resumed the fight.

Grief tore through her, and she whispered the words, "Evan, I won't let you die in vain!" She ripped through the crowd, looking for the Vesper with a certain pistol.

Evan Tolliver is often hated, looked down upon, and stepped on.

Everyone says, "Oh, you like Evamy? Evamy is so uncool!"

I'm here to tell you that Evan Tolliver/Amy Cahill is possibly one of the most bittersweet love stories there are in the 39 Clues.

Don't hate on Evan Tolliver.

Respect him, cherish his memories, the only thing we have left of this nerdy boy, with stunning blue eyes hidden behind coke-bottle glasses.
