Life is not a Fairy Tale, a fairy tales fanfic

Once opon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a young girl with a loving mother and father. One day her mother left and never came back. The girl's father married a woman with two girls her age. Then, her father died leaving her with her horrible stepmother who made her do all of the chores. The girl grew into a beautiful woman and met a prince. They married and lived happily ever after. The End.

Doesn't that sound nice and simple? But it's not. You see there's some problems with this story. The time was not so long ago, the place not so far away, the girl was me, life is not a fairy tale, and there's no such thing as happily ever after. There's always more to the story, so here it is.
