His hand grasped hers, holding it gently. His other hand was lying on her hip. Her other hand on his shoulder. She looked up into his deep sea green eyes and let her green ones capture their attention. His ginger hair, swept over his right eye so grace fully. Her long brown hair, swayed with her movement. She breathed out evenly, her breath making small clouds in the night air. The layer of snow crunched softly under their feet. He started the dance and pulled her one way elegantly. She followed, swaying to a tune she knew. She opened her mouth to sing the song softly.
'Dancing
bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song
someone sings
Once upon a December'.
Her voice floats in the night air. The moonlight lights their dancing path as they twirl to the tune, around the clearing. She looked past his shoulder briefly to see the large mansion. She pulls her eyes from her prison and makes them gaze back up into those beautiful green ones, before continuing
'Someone
holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver
storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...'
She starts to hum the music softly, never taking her eyes from the ones of the man dancing with her, never slowing the dance. She remembers the day she was caught by him. It had been six months ago. They had wanted her to heal the man who danced with her now. She had had no choice. They had made a deal though. She healed him, they left the her friends and family alone. She had reluctantly agreed. Six months it had taken her to work. Now she was finally finished.
'Someone
holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver
storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...'
Her voice was a bit louder now. The dance continued, showing in their footprints in the pure white snow. Her grip on his hand tightened comfortingly and he squeezed back. Some things in life came quite unexpectedly. Especially love. She had fallen for the man she had healed even though she never thought it possible. She knew he felt something for her too. Because he was kinder to her. He was more open with her. Maybe he was just comfortable with her. She gave him a smile and continued to sing her song.
'Far
away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things
my heart
Used to know,
Things it yearns to remember...'
She looked up at him seeing a tinge of emotion in his cold sea green eyes. His eyes were healed. So there was no more use for her. And they couldn't have her escaping to show their enemies where their hide out was. So she had to be disposed of. Who better to do that then the one she healed, the one she loved. This was her last dance. She glanced to the mansion again and smiled at the two figures in the window. One was a tall brown haired man, the other a man with long blonde hair. They gazed out at her with sad eyes. They knew they couldn't go back on their leader's orders.
'And
a song
Someone sings'
She felt his hand on her hip lift. She heard the sharp ring of steel as he drew his katana from his sheath. She kept her eyes on his and gave him a smile. She saw something in his eyes. Regret. She smiled on and led him in the dance as he got ready to do his 'mission' She felt his grip on her hand tighten in sadness.
'I Love you.' She mouthed.
He gave a curt nod and leaned over her. He pressed his lips to hers and they shared a quick kiss. As he pulled back she felt his katana slid into her breast. The pure white snow behind her splattered with red. She felt his hand let hers go, almost hesitantly. Her hands fell from him and she slowly fell backwards. She didn't even feel herself hit the ground. Her body was already numb. Her hair fanned out across the snow and she could see the red surrounding her, making the snow glow. She smiled up at him as her eyes faded, and her life slipped away. She opened her mouth and to finish the last line of her song.
'Once upon a December…….'
