This poem is actually something I wrote based off of my own feelings, not as something for fanfiction. However, I was reading over it, and thought that it would fit rather nicely with Edward's character, so I decided to post it here.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
I'm no stranger to emotions,
I'm a connoisseur, of sorts.
They're my friends,
My enemies.
------
Joy that knows no boundaries,
Uncontrollable rage.
Passing fits of laughter,
Floods of sorrow and frustration.
------
I've experienced them all.
They come and they go,
Ebb and flow,
An endless wave of emotions.
------
There is no stopping them,
For they will always keep coming.
Though, I thought at least,
That I knew them all.
------
But then you have to come and prove me wrong.
Out of the shadowy recesses of my life,
You saunter into my mind as if you belong,
And there you stay.
------
No matter what I try,
You just won't leave.
You commandeer my emotions,
Leaving me helpless aboard the ship of my mind.
------
I have no choice but to hold on tight,
Let you steer me through wave upon wave,
Hurricane after hurricane,
That you so unknowingly brought on.
------
You save me from those storms,
And yet,
You were the wind, the gale,
That whipped them up in the first place.
------
I thought I knew my emotions,
Until you came along.
They were my friends,
The constants in my life.
------
Now,
They are unknown to me,
Volatile,
Unpredictable.
------
Before you,
I had never known compassion,
Before you,
I had never known need.
------
I didn't know want,
Or comfort.
I didn't know how to be at peace.
I didn't know love.
------
And though they've always been closed off from the world,
You decided to waltz into my thoughts,
Bringing these unfamiliar emotions,
And send me spiraling into a whirlpool of the unknown.
------
It is unnerving,
Not knowing.
It is unnerving,
Not being in control.
------
But,
As long as you take my hand,
As long as you are next to me when I take that plunge,
It won't matter.
------
I'll be with you.
Hopefully it was pretty good. As I said above, it wasn't actually written for Edward, but it fit so nicely that I couldn't resist. Some parts don't quite fit, but I think it turned out pretty well. Plus, the irony of Bella invading his mind, when her thoughts are the only ones he can't hear...yeah...I'm just a dork :p
