Juliet Butler scurried around Fowl manner, shouting out instructions to anyone who

would listen. She had decided to throw Artemis a suprise party for his sixteeth birthday, and she

had managed to get the help of Mr and Mrs Fowl, Holly (who was disguised as a human) ,

Minerva, the twins, and grudginly, Butler. Butler was sorry he had ever said "yes".

"Dom, hang those streamers will you? No Beckett, we can't have the cake now we

have to wait." Juliet was screeching. "Ok everyone we have twenty minutes before Minerva brings

Artemis home. Beckett, Myles, you two need to finish that banner. Mr and Mrs Fowl, you're in

charge of keeping lookout for Artemis. Holly you're in charge of decorating the lounge. Dom, you

get to frost the cake."

And, with that, she scurried of to do something important. Butler walk slowly to the

kitchen. He loved his sister dearly, but sometimes she really got on his nerves. Why did she have

to pick him to be cake froster? Why couldn't have Holly done it? Why had she decided to have a

surprise party in the first place? An nice dinner would have been aceptable to Artemis, but Juliet

was never one for the simple and uncomplicated.

When he finally reached the kitchen, he realized that Juliet hadn't told him where the

frosting was. So he spent about five minutes looking for it. When he had finally gathered everthing

he needed (or thought he needed) he started scooping frosting out of the container with the knife

and making big splotches on the cake. After the cake was realativeley covered in splotches, he

decided it was time to decorate it.

Just as he started to raise the can of prinkles (and had started having fun), Juliet

walked in. When she saw the cake covered in untidy gobs, her face turned white then red.

"What have you done to it?" she wispered. Then with slightly more voulume added. "didn't

anyone ever teach you how to frost a cake?" After about three very akward seconds, Juliet

grabbed the sprinkles out of Butler's still raised hand, and procceded to even out the frosting on

the cake.

"You have to spread it." Juliet told Butler, using the tone of voice that most people use with two

year olds. Then Juliet kicked Butler out of the kitchen to "go do something useful". Butler slowly

walked away to help Beckett and Myles.

Artemis had had a vey nice time with Minerva, and was looking foward to a nice relaxed night at

home. They had spent the day traveling to all their favorite places in the town closest to Fowl

manner, and Artemis had had a good time showing Minerva around. Since Minerva was very

good at keeping secrets, Artemis had no idea the horror that awaited him.

When Artemis got inside the house, all the lights were off and no one answered him when he

called. He turned to Minerva, suspicious. "What's going on" he demanded. Minerva tried to look

as inoccent as possibe. Artemis walked into the lounge. Suddenly the lights were turned on.

"Surpise!"
