Just a Little Story I Wrote

The golden morning sun shone through the blue curtains, which gave the average sized bedroom an underwater affect. The two people in the bed slept soundly until one of them opened her eyes and smiled. She felt the weight and warmth of her lover's arm draped over her waist and she turned to him and smiled wider. Even though he was still asleep, she was glad to be able to wake up next to him in the morning. She planted a chaste kiss on his nose and carefully, very carefully, removed his arm from her waist. He stirred a little and very slightly opened his eyes. She giggled quietly.

"Go on back to sleep darling. I was just going to make some breakfast," she whispered. She kissed him again, but this time on the mouth. Her lover gave her a small smile and resumed sleeping.

She crept out of the room and walked towards the small yet cozy kitchen. As she walked, she took notice of things to do around their apartment: sweep the floors and fold some laundry; chores that could be easily and quickly done. She walked to some cabinets under the sink and pulled out four skillets and a pizza pan. Just as she put the kitchenware on the stove burners, she felt two strong, warm arms wrap around her and lips were pressed to her neck; she smiled and giggled.

"Good morning sweetie," he told her. He nuzzled her head and squeezed his arms a bit tighter. "Did you sleep well?"

"As always, since I was next to you," she turned in his arms so she could give him a passionate kiss and smiled wider. "What about you; did you sleep well?" He nodded his head and leaned his forehead against her. "So I'm making some biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon for breakfast."

"That sounds great, babe. I'm so glad that I don't have to work today," he told her. He looked around the kitchen and the connected living room then turned back to her. "It seems like we don't have many chores to do today. Why don't we take Harvey to the park?"

"That sounds like a great idea. Go ahead and get dressed and refill Harvey's water bowl please."

As she made the breakfast, she listened to the sounds of the TV from the living room and stopped every now and then to smile at her lover sitting on the couch next to their black pit bull. He must have sensed her looking at him because he turned and smiled at her, and then walked towards her. They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed passionately.

"How'd I get so lucky?" he asked her.

"You chose me. How'd I get so lucky?" she asked.

"You chose to kiss me on New Year's Eve."

They then ate breakfast and got ready for the beautiful day. The boy hooked Harvey up to his leash and the happy couple walked to their little gold car. Within minutes, they made it to the Community Park and saw that other people had the same idea. The weather was just right and the only clouds in the sky were white and puffy. They walked through the park, arm in arm and just kept smiling.

"I love you, Jennie," he bent and whispered in her ear. She turned to smile broadly at him.

"I love you too, Shane."
