Mikan was in a questionable mood. Her boyfriend, Natsume, had just gotten a present from a fan (admirer). It was a pair of cat ears. Of course, Natsume was disgusted. He immediately threw them in the trash.
Mikan had waited until he was gone, and got the kitty ears out of the trash. 'Natsume sure is like a cat... He looks like a cat, he acts like a cat, he sneaks like a cat, and he does puppy eyes like one.' She thought to herself, immediately regretting it afterwords.
Suddenly she heard a knock on the door, it was Hotaru. "Hey!" she said, looking at her best friend who was, surprisingly, blushing!? "Guess what!" Her normally stoic friend, actually sounded like a high school girl. "Yeah?" Mikan said, interested in what was with her best friend.
"Well... Ruka asked me out!" Mikan reeled back in surprise, "He had the guts? He's a brave man. Hope you didn't shoot him down!" Hotaru looked down, suddenly interested in her shoes. "Wait... You said YES! Squeee! You guys are so cute together!"
Hotaru blushed more, now instead of her usual 'light pink blush', she was tomato red. "Gotta go." She said, looking anywhere except at Mikan, as she rushed out of the room, Mikan sighed.
"Wish my boyfriend could be more romantic..." She whispered, pulling one of her trademark pigtails. "Who said I wasn't planning something, polka-dots?" She looked up to see Natsume, wearing... "OHMYGOSH! You look so cute!" That's right folks, Natsume Hyuuga was wearing cat ears. Natsume blushed, and looked at his feet.
Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and Hotaru Imai was visible. She had gotten a priceless photo.
Today, everyone has learned something new. Mikan has learned not to judge a book by it's un-romantic cover. Hotaru has learned that her best friend's boyfriend has his uses. And as for Natsume, he has a new life motto. Never, however much your girlfriend pleads, ever wear cat ears.
