"Well, isn't this beautiful?" the boy said, his legs dangling over the cliff. A girl sat near
him, watching the water quietly.
"Please don't fall..." an older girl said a distance away from the two. She sounded quiet
and afraid.
"We said we wouldn't fall," he turned and smiled at her, she tried to keep herself from
flinching back at the child's gaze. As he turned back around the sound of sirens filled
the air.
"M-maybe we should be leaving now," the older girl stuttered out.
"Awe, just a bit longer. Please Sister?" the boy begged, this time both children turned
to look at the girl.
"W-we can al-always come back later. After the nice p-people clean up for us," she
motioned toward the street where the siren cars would be pulling up to soon.
"Okay, but you have to promise to take us back here," she nodded as the two children
got up and walked calmly over to her, taking her hands in theirs.
"Le-let's go then," her voice sounded as if she wanted to scream or run.
"Okay, Sister! Let's go home now!" he said excitedly.
The three of them headed off into the woods together. Soon after they disappeared a
squad of police cars screeched to a stop in front of the park. As they all got out and
took in the sight they seemed saddened that they hadn't come before.
It was 9 o'clock and Max was running and bouncing around the park, even though his
older sister Tris was seemingly already whipped of energy by the hyper active 5-year old.
"Max," Tris puffed out trying to breathe. "Please... Slow down. I can't breathe."
"Play! More, play!" Max ran towards the beginnings of the forest and it looked as if he
wasn't stopping.
"Hi!" An older boy that looked about 7 came out of the forest in front of Max, he was
holding hands with an identical girl who remained silent.
"Hi!" Max imitated the boy's greeting. "Wanna play with me?"
"Awesome, we'd love to play with you!" the boy's smile grew larger. "But you've gotta
come help us get the others so we came play with them, too."
"Really?" Max asked sounding very interested in what the boy was talking about.
"Yeah, you just have to follow us. C'mon let's go!" the boy took Max's hand in his free
one and turned. They walked away into the darkest part of the forest.
Tris looked around for her little brother checking everywhere in the park for him.
"Max!" Tris called out for him, her hands shaking.
"We're right here big sister." the little voice said from behind her. As she turned she
saw he was holding a girl who seemed almost identical.
The world became black as Tris lost sight of everything, her world turning to black.
