Angeles Dollslayer was depressed Today was her seventeenth birthday, and it seemed everything was going wrong in her life. She was in a heated re-election campaign against her political rival. A bill that she was trying to get pushed into law, about not having children go to combat, kept being denied a vote. So she decided to filibuster any new bills from being presented in the Senate until her bill was voted on. This made many Senators, including her own father, angry.
"I am doing the right thing," Angeles argued the night before.
"Doing the right thing is costing you support amongst your friends, and playing right into the hands of your foes," Les warned her. "If you keep on this road, you will not get re-elected."
Angeles did not care. Maybe it would be better off if she lost. Then she could go back to a normal life. She tried to forget about Poe Dameron and Armitage Hux, the two men she liked. But it did not work. It led her to make a dumb decision, to sleep with someone she did not love. She regretted it immediately, then was terrified when she had a pregnancy scare. Thankfully, she was not pregnant.
"I hope seventeen is better than sixteen," Angeles thought to herself, as she packed. She was going to Takodana for the weekend, just bringing her pilot and one security guard. The only other person that knew where she was going was Poe.
Poe was upset with her last year, when he saw her kiss Armitage Hux. Angeles told him to not worry about her, but as her good friend, he did. Poe was the only one that knew about Angeles' one night stand and pregnancy scare. She could tell him anything, except how she felt about it. He was dating this girl named Jessica. She seemed nice enough, but Angeles did not care. She wanted to be with Poe, and now, he was not available.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Poe asked her, before she boarded the ship.
"No," Angeles replied. "I need to enjoy my birthday weekend by myself. I have a lot on my mind."
Poe understood. He knew Angeles was under a lot of stress. He would make sure to take her out for her birthday next weekend.
"Have a safe trip," he told her. "If you need anything, call me."
"I will, but I won't," Angeles replied back. Once the ship left Naboo, she decided to take a nap. By the time she woke up, the ship had landed on Takodana.
"The planet is beautiful," Angeles thought to herself. "Not as nice as Naboo, but close."
She wore a head covering, so that only her brown eyes were exposed. Angeles did not want to be recognized by anyone. She, the security guard and the pilot made their way towards Maz Kanata's castle. Angeles paid a heavy fee for the three of them to stay a second night.
"Dolly Angel!" she heard Maz's voice call out to her. Angeles used the alias to protect herself, her companions and Maz.
"Nice to finally meet you. Maz," Angeles said, as they entered the castle.
"Likewise," Maz replied. "I certainly hope you meant what you said about escaping your life for the weekend. Remember my rules."
"Don't worry. This weekend, I am Dolly Angel, as aspiring singer. When can I perform for the crowd?" Angeles was excited to get on stage & sing.
"You will be the opening act as soon as you are ready. Which I suggest you do now. The crowd is getting restless."
Angeles dashed to her room to change. She wore a short, sexy sleeveless black lace dress. She would never wear this outfit but "Dolly Angel" would.
"No pictures," she told her pilot Jack and her security guard Roger, before she got on stage. She introduced herself, and began to sing, with the head covering still on her.
As she was singing, Angeles noticed a table with two men and a young Twilek girl. The men kept touching the girl in an inappropriate way.
She approached Roger, and motioned to the table where the men were. He nodded and stepped away. When she finished performing, she headed to the table Jack was seated at.
"I need my watch," Angeles told him. "Stay here, in case I need you." Jack gave her the watch, and she strapped in on. She looked for the men and the girl, but did not see them.
"Maz, do you know where..." Angeles asked the eccentric humanoid.
"No fighting inside. Outside, a different story," Maz told her. Angeles nodded in understanding. She went to leave, but Maz grabbed her hand.
"You will face your worst fear tonight," the woman cryptically said to Angeles. "Remember, the Force is with you."
"Thanks," Angeles uttered in confusion. She was not Force sensitive, so she wondered why Maz would say that to her. She pushed the thought to the side as she ran out of the castle to find Roger, the men and the Twilek girl.
